On to July!

Hey Everyone! Well, we have started getting a routine here. We have both completed all our orientation and training and are on our own at school. I started last week and things are going great. Most of my classes are ages first grade through sixth grade. Some classes are better than others in the way of skill and behavior but overall, good. Fleming starts officially, tomorrow. She will be commanding a legion of third graders each day who all have good English. Most of them come from very well off families and have traveled a good bit. All our coworkers are cool and we have started hanging out with some. Its neat because after living in America for almost 30 years and not knowing many people from other countries outside Mexico, we know a ton. We have friends from Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Russia and other countries as well.
The weather has been great. We are supposed to be getting a great deal of rain each week but so far, its been nice. However, Im told this week has some terrible weather in store. We have been spending most of our weekend at the beach because of the beauty, weather and five minute walk. We are truely in a great area.
Since we dont have cell phones yet, you can always reach us on facebook, email or on skype. I hope you will download skype and hit us up.  I hope everyone is staying out of the heat and having a good summer. We love and miss you all.

ps, sorry we forget to take pictures.....

Time to get to work

Greetings!

Well we are starting to get settled and adjusted. We have done a good deal of shopping to get apartment supplies like an iron, hair straightener, cooking stuff, etc. Things are getting more comfortable on that side. We have been exploring the city a great deal and having some fun before school starts. I start my orientation this week and Fleming starts hers next week. We are very much looking forward to developing a routine, meeting coworkers and getting into "the loop."
So far things have been going well but we have each been struggling with different bouts of culture shock. Fleming is in aww of the big city and how fast paced and busy it is. I am finding myself comparing my previous stay with this one as I dont know many people anymore. However, we have been meeting people, catching up with the few old friends I have and learning our way around.
We just found and joined a small gym and have also become part of a local yoga group. The best part of everything is getting back involved with the local foreigner church. They are amazing people and we cant wait to meet them all. Fleming will be helping out with childcare at church and we hope to join Bible study groups in our area.
Tomorrow we will be going to a movie theater and seeing Superman in 4D with our friends Meg and Dave. Yeah, you read that right, 4D. We also plan on going hiking at a nearby mountain this week. We are realizing what a great part of the city we live in. The beach is a 10 minute walk and the subway station is only 2 minutes away. We are also so close to many things in the city. We even went grocery shopping and found out that any comfort foods that we want can be found such as peanut butter and Classico spagetti sauce, to name a few things.
We keep forgetting our camera when we go out but we will be sure to focus on that in the future. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we begin school and keep adjusting.

Saturday morning yoga over looking the amazing bridge at the beach. Of course I happened to take a pic when everyone was bending over...

Sunny day at the beach!

Our real estate. Not too shabby!

At a petting zoo. Of course it needed a large wooden dog peeing...

Arriving and getting adjusted

Hey everyone! Greetings from Busan. We arrived safely after a long flight from Charlotte to New York to Seoul to Busan. We were picked up at the airport by our recruiter and brought to our apartment. We decided to drop our bags, take a walk to a PC room to email our families and to have a victory beer at the amazing beach that is only a 10 minute walk from our apartment. Since that time, we have unpacked our bags, been shopping for supplies like an iron, hair straightener, foods and explored portions of the city. Fleming has already had some fun experiences communicating our intentions to taxi drivers and other cultural misunderstandings. Overall, things have gone smooth and its been great!
On our first full day here, we hung out at the beach for a bit, went shopping and took in a Lotte Giants baseball game. It was a ton of fun full of loud singing, cheerleaders, eating fried chicken, cold beer, dried squid of course baseball. We ended up getting home and in bed around 9:30 and slept all the way until 6:30 am. Take that jet lag!!!
Tonight we will be having dinner with my old co-teacher that I have stayed in touch with for 3 years and then maybe going out for a bit. Saturday will be spent playing volleyball and hanging out on the beach all day and Sunday will be dedicated to meeting members of our church, attending a cookout and making friends.
We hope we will continue to be in your prayers and thoughts. We do not have cell phones yet but can easily be reach via email. We would also love to speak with you on skype. You can download it for free, its easy to use and a great way to see all your beautiful faces. Below are some pics of our apartment and other things.
Oh, and it is official, we are going to have a second apartment in our building starting in July. I suppose we needed a winter home at the beach.....Also, its open and ready for visitors to Busan.........
